Maria Aragon flies to Vegas for Pacquiao fight

Singing sensation Maria Aragon left for Las Vegas on Monday to sing the Philippine national anthem in Manny Pacquiao's fight against Juan Manuel Marquez.

The trilogy bout will be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday (Sunday in Manila).

Aragon shared her excitement to sing for Pacquiao and to watch him fight live.

The young singer, who rose to fame for her version of Lady Gaga's "Born This Way," already went to the National Historical Institute (NHI) to present her rendition of the country's national anthem.

NHI has repeatedly stressed that "Lupang Hinirang" should be sung in its original Filipino lyrics and march tempo.

Meanwhile, "American Idol Season 10" finalist Thia Megia was chosen by Pacquiao to sing the United States national anthem, "The Star-Spangled Banner."

"I met him last night. It was amazing. I got to sing the national anthem for him last night (Saturday). He told me that I will be singing in his next fight," the Filipino-American singer earlier said in a television interview.
